I got back last night from a truly extraordinary BlogTourNYC experience.  With new friendships formed, a plethora of design inspiration and about a million pictures and tidbits, I can’t wait to share…

Kicking-off with some photos I snapped during the press tour of the DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) Dining by Design showcase at the Architectural Digest Home Design Show.  Every year DIFFA invites the top talent of the design world to create tables that exemplify their style and story.  Some of the creative “table” details had me chomping at the bit to incorporate into my next dinner party.

David Stark teamed with Benjamin Moore and they have my my vote for most creative and inviting table.  No surprise, the use of color was brilliant.  The table felt like being inside a children’s picture book and I love how they lined the chivari chairs with colorful throws.  How sensational would this “look” and color palette be for a spring wedding in Napa Valley?  And, I’m not sure how clear it is from the photo (above) but those are giant colored faux books surrounding the dining area.

The New York Times table was designed by Design Within Reach (above).  The table had some wonderful and unique accessories.  The miniature version of the sleek and modern Design Within Reach chairs would be such a terrific conversation piece for a “real” dinner party.  You can purchase the miniature chairs at Vitra.

Merchandise Mart Properties Table (above) designed by DesignLush did glamourous with a rather humorous detail… a gold slinky as a place card holder.

The Ethan Allen Table (above) had me dreaming of a Caribbean vacation…

The Liebherr table was designed by Libby Langdon, who took the time to personally speak with us.  By the way, she is extremely approachable and has such a wonderful energy.  The table had a garden + cozy feel.  The wine bottles hanging from the ceiling is a inspirational idea for a funky dining room and I loved that casual textile she chose for the chairs.  It may be difficult to tell from the photos but Libby also had water feature that really topped off the design.  I would’ve loved to have been a fly on the wall for what must have been a difficult installation…

We all know how deep my love is for Ralph Lauren and his table did not disappoint. Quintessential Ralph Lauren comforts and colors.  I think the pictures say it all…
